Lil Durk has firmly negated allegations of stirring up a feud with NBA YoungBoy as a tactic to elevate the sales of his forthcoming album, 'Almost Healed.'
In an interaction with DJ Akademiks on the Off the Record podcast, Durk was questioned about the purported rift with NBA YoungBoy. He refuted the notion that he was exploiting the conflict for promotional purposes. The artist affiliated with Alamo Records voiced his surprise at his opponent's unexpected social media onslaught.
Durk declared, "I promise you, I don’t think about that man. Zero! I was shocked when I woke up to that stuff. I'm like, 'What the heck? Must be a fake page.'"
He further justified his stance, "Why would I use you for promo when I know I'm going to outsell you? Some people sit up and be like, 'You're going to outsell him, but he has a bigger...'. Well, who's using who for promo?”
Durk's album 'Almost Healed' and NBA YoungBoy’s 'Richest Opp' project were initially slated for a concurrent release. However, Durk chose to postpone his album's release, which did not deter NBA YoungBoy from expressing his disdain towards him on Twitter.
NBA YoungBoy had tweeted (and later deleted), “@lildurk you're a coward & your nasty girlfriend and it’s evident and @Akademiks you're a pure chatterbox who’s going to pay the price."
He also added, "@lildurk lol, have you ever realized you only get a buzz when one of your friends passes away?"
Lil Durk’s album 'Almost Healed' is set to be released on Friday, May 26. Its leading track, "All My Life" featuring J. Cole, has already made its debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
